Woohoo! Our first home visit from our agency will be on April 12th. It's nerve-racking and exciting and thrilling all in one! Lots of things have been stressful the sooner we get to our "gotcha date" and thoughts are running across our minds like "Are we going to be good enough parents?" "Are we going to be able to provide for our family?" "Are we going to be able to do this juggling act that so many parents do?" Despite the worries and stress that are becoming more transparent as this becomes more real, we know in our hearts the answer is YES. We have waited and waited for this day and it is surreal that it is finally coming! I think during this home visit they will do our separate interviews and interview together and go over paperwork. The 2nd home visit will be about the dogs. The 3rd home visit will be after our shower on May 7th, and will be about safety/childproofing/and any loose ends.
Yesterday we ran into our neighbors across the street. I had met them at our neighborhood meet and greet. It's funny how things work out so I just smile and take it in.....they are also fostering to adopt and just had their first MAPP training class that morning. They will finish up by taking extended classes on Saturdays through March and move in to their home March 28th. We are beyond happy to have neighbors going through the same process as we are and to have that level of support.
Today we are 43 days out from moving and they sure are chugging along. It looks like the counters and floors will be going in next, then fixtures and appliances! Everything is turning out the way we had hoped. Right now they are digging up our front yard to pour the driveway and side walks.
Beautiful home, Crystal! And if you need a list for babysitters, put me on it!
